Chaos Gods such as Adarna, Lucca and the Reaver are tricksters, thieves and granters of luck and chance. Known for their cunning, quickness and grace, these divinities bestow these qualities to their followers, although their whimsical and chaotic nature may also cause them to test and frustrate their Chosen.

To a Priest of Chaos, the world is governed by Chaos; chance and fortune are not merely words but vital energies of the World. Through understanding these forces and their connection with the Divine, these Priests can exert their will over the ebb and flow of these energies, appearing extraordinarily lucky to the unlearned. Some Chaos Priest use these powers to profit from the ever-mutable world while others use their abilities to benefit their Chosen. Expect the unexpected when in the presences of these spellcasters.

In the same vein, Chaos spells can grant serendipitous fortune to an individual, allowing them to evade dangerous strikes or even avoid magical energies. In terms of utility, Chaos spells can unravel devices such as locks or traps and even abstract concepts such as truths or lies. Offensively, Chaos spells often deceive or confuse enemies, wreathing them in entropic energies that befuddle their brains and fool their senses. One of the greatest Chaos spells, imbues its target with the power of a trickster god; while so empowered, the target is a master of deception, taking on different guises, dodging attacks and even stealing vital or spiritual energies.

CHAOS RITUALS

If a spell in this list requires a ritual, you may use the suggestions listed below.

Because of their nature, Chaos Rituals vary immensely between Priest to Priest. Some prefer formal ceremonies, where the philosophies of Chaos are spewed and sowed to the congregation. In these rituals, the primary ritualist typically has music (sometimes dischordant music) in the background while they engage in their lecture. Some of these Priest focus on the music itself, using strange or improvised instruments to make song and dance - these reflect the eerie and anarchic nature of the Chaos Sphere.

Other Chaos Priests prefer less formal rituals. There are tales of Chaos Priests that dress their rituals in the trappings of a card game or a dice game. There are those that simulate the vagaries of reality by bloodying a random ritual participant based on a die roll or a card pick. Others pick the pockets of their ritualists and then place the items in a different ritualist's possession. There even stories of Chaos Priests poisoning their ritualists at random and then healing the fallen only seconds before they pass unto to the next life. Some Chaos Priests pit their Chosen against one another in lying contests, story telling contests or even contests of magic, all to please their capricious patrons.

In the end, rituals for Chaos spells can draw from a wide variety of methods, from the conventional to strange, using cooperation or competition, with the Priest being either benign or predatory. The point is, with the Chaos Sphere, expect the unexpected.

Short Incantation (used by most Chaos spells): "By Faith's Guile, I invoke..."

Long Incantation (used by Chaos rituals and erudite spells): "By the Guile and Cunning of Faith, I invoke..."
