Gods of Creation form the backbone to a culture's creation myth. The Dwarves believe that the Maker forged Midworld from the bones of Wyrm, the Mother of Dragons. The Ishtari accept that Kali is the mother of the world and of all things that live. Similarly, these Gods are also patrons of the arts and the trades, evidenced by Lugh of the Fir'bolg, Athalarian Verathul of the Silver Elves, Adarna of the Riverfolk and the aforementioned Maker.

The act of creation is a sacred one to the Priests of these deities. The effort of such labors reflects the majesty of their divine patrons and is inspired by their holy masters. A Dwarf Priest that forges a steel shield is a pale refection of the Maker's forging of Midworld's mountains; but the similarities make the act a blessed one. Consequently, Creation Priests are often artists and craftsmen themselves. For these pious folk, each finished product and each work of art is a prayer to their deities.

The Sphere of Creation augments the creative powers of such Priests, allowing them to mend broken objects, improve the craft of the faithful and even perform craftsmanship beyond one's own knowledge. Despite their power, Creation spells often improve, mend or imbue. Thus, most Creation spells are non-combative ritual spells that enhance their subjects or perform tasks that are not suited to the fracas of melee. Those Creation spells that are cast in battle tend to be spells of mending or spells of protection, for it is not in the Sphere's power to directly inflict destruction.

CREATION RITUALS

Rituals for Creation spells are typically tied to the act of creation.

Many Priests chant at these rituals, bringing order and pace to words and breath. These chants are often regarding religious scripture, be they stories that illustrate an important lesson or simply songs that list the glorious virtues of their patron. Musical instruments are also used in these chants. At its simplest, basic percussion (the beating of a drum or the tapping of a shield) can punctuate verses. At its most complicated, the weaving chords of a lute or the titter of a flute can coil around a parable and bring its climax to new heights.

Less musically inclined Priesthoods tend toward more literal acts of creation. These Priests sermon at working forges or over bubbling cauldrons. While the concentration required in performing a ritual prohibits them from actively crafting, they may grant some minor participation to the act (holding a blade while a Smith hammers it), lend verbal rhythm to it or even bless it with Priestly implements and prayers.

Some solitary Creation Priests perform their rituals by putting quill to parchment, chisel to stone, form to clay or brush to canvas. Whether these works are original or reproductions, the act of bringing them into their current form is a sacred enough to channel the necessary energies of the ritual into Midworld. Similarly, even something as commonplace as cooking or sewing can be made into a Creation Ritual, so long as it is done in a manner that is ritualistic, somber and appropriate to the divinity it is devoted to.

Special Note: Performing a Ritual cannot be done simultaneously as another Profession action (Crafting, Repairing, Scribing, etc), unless a Character has a Skill or ability that allows them to do so.
