Overview: The Brewer has always been an honorable profession, capable of feeding and entertaining large numbers of folk with wares both delicious and nutritious. Some Brewers are even capable of making potions that can heal the worst of wounds or imbue their imbibers with a courage that is near enough to real courage to matter. And then there is the dark side of Brewing: Venomology – the creation of poisons. Some Brewers dabble in such dark art to improve their craft while other find involvement in Brewing precisely to further their knowledge of poisons. To those that eat and drink from a Brewer’s stock, beware… and never get on a Brewer’s bad side if you intend to take your fill.
Notes: Brewers can cook, make brews and make poison.
BASIC BREWER: A character at first level that chooses Brewer as his first profession may choose from the following selections (Elixirist or Venomologist, receiving the benefits below their choice:
-Recipe: Spiritsong Potion (Basic Elixir, Regain 1 SP)
- Use Basic Poison Recipe and components to create Poisons
- Recipe: Blacksteel Venom (Basic Combat Poison, 10/5 damage)
Elixirs: small empty plastic bottles filled with water. All commercial labels must not be seen (so either rip them off or paint over them). These bottles must have a “sleeve” where you can insert a 3x5 index card. Create said sleeve using transparent tape and cardboard. The pocket must be opaque so that the card inside cannot be seen. Alternatively you could use old plastic film canister. You can label it a potion on the outside and place the index card inside.
Poisons: Tiny glass or plastic vials.
Scripts: Index card with the proper format.

SKILL OVERVIEW:
Elixirist
I. Elixirist: This skill allows a Brewer to learn/use Basic Elixir Recipes, Components and an Alchemy Lab to create Basic Elixirs. In addition, when presented with an Elixir card or a Poison card, a Brewer with this skill can identify a Brew for what it is, including its name and what it does (you can look at the card). This process takes 1 minute of analysis with a ready alchemy lab and 5 minutes without one.
II. Expert Elixirist: The second purchase of this skill allows a Brewer to learn/use Complex Elixir Recipes, Components and an Alchemy Lab to create Complex Elixirs. A Brewer with this level of skill can identify a Brew for what it is with only 10 seconds of analysis with an alchemy lab or only a minute without one.
III. Master Elixirist: The third purchase of this skill allows a Brewer to learn/use Erudite Elixir Recipes, Components and an Alchemy Lab to create Erudite Elixirs. A Brewer at this level of skill creates 5 doses (instead of 3) when using a basic recipe.
Venomologist
I. Venomologist: This skill allows you to learn/use Basic Poison Recipes, Components and an Alchemy Lab to create Basic Poisons. In addition, when presented with an Elixir card or a Poison card, a Brewer with this skill can identify a Brew for what it is (you can look at its card), including its name and what it does. This process takes 1 minute with a ready alchemy lab and 5 minutes without one.
II. Expert Venomologist: The second purchase of this skill allows you to learn/use Complex Poison Recipes, Components and an Alchemy Lab to create Complex Poisons. Furthermore, an Expert Venomologist only needs 5 seconds to apply a combat poison to a weapon.
III. Master Venomologist: The third purchase of this skill allows you to learn/use Erudite Poison Recipes, Components and an Alchemy Lab to create Erudite Poisons. Furthermore, a Master Venomologist only needs 3 seconds to apply a combat poison to a weapon.
Delay Poison
Requires: Tolerate Poison
Whenever you are poisoned, you can choose to delay the effects of the poison for 60 seconds before you suffer them. This grants you time to find help before the Poison takes its toll on you.
Disjunct Brew
When presented with an Elixir or a Poison (at least 3 doses of the same Brew), a Brewer with this skill can destroy it but salvage only one of the components that were used to make it. This procedure takes 10 minutes to complete.
Cooperation: If an Alchemist with the proper skills aids in the process, the both of you can salvage one more component.
Imbue Feast
With this skill, a Brewer can imbue food with his recipes. He can place a dose card beneath the plate. There is a catch though: if there are less doses than there were people who partook from the plate – then the dose does not take effect. If the dosage was equal to or greater than the amount of people who partook, then the dosage works exactly as planned. With the use of this skill, the entirety of the food need not be eaten for the dose to take effect, so long as the dosage and the number of victims match well.
Poison Dart
This skill allows you to throw doses of combat poison in the form of darts. In combat, these darts suffer from all the restrictions that poisons suffer. It takes 5 seconds to aim a poison dart (use an arrow packet to represent these).
Resilience
When you are affected by a Pain effect, it only affects you for half the regular duration. When you would break out of the effect, invoke this skill.
With this skill, you can ply the innkeeper for information regarding the current happenings in the local lands. After 5 minutes of conversation, this skill will yield information that may or may not be relevant to the event. This skill is usable once per period.
Student of the Lotus
You can deliver poison through to armored opponents. In order to do so, you must have struck your opponent with damaging attacks twice. These attacks have to be regular attacks. Preface the first damage invocation with “Expose armor 1”. After the second invocation of “expose armor”, you may now use your poison against your enemy and his armor, whether magical or physical cannot protect him from it.
See the section on poisoned weapons for more information.
